- Winding evenly
- Choosing a matching thread
Materials and tools
Before you start
- Check the manual for the bobbin winding path and the bobbin type. The winder position and the thread path differ by model.
Step by step
Tips for a neat result
- Wind the bobbin with the same type of thread you will sew with, so the stitches match in weight and stretch.
- A bobbin wound on a loose tension winds unevenly. Pull the thread taut as you start.
Common mistakes and fixes
The thread winds unevenly with lumps on one side.
The thread missed the winding tension disc. Rewind following the manual path.
The needle moves up and down while winding.
The winder was engaged but the handwheel clutch was not released. Check the manual for the clutch or disengage step.
The bobbin does not stop and overfills.
The automatic stop is not set or the spindle did not slide fully. Stop the machine by hand and adjust.
Safety and fabric care
- Keep fingers away from the moving bobbin. Switch off the machine if the thread jams.
Check your result
- The thread is wound evenly and sits flat on the bobbin.
- The bobbin fits easily into the case with no thread overhanging the edges.
